The Columbus Idea Foundry is Columbus’s own community workshop, DIY learning center and creative space. Our goal is to teach introductory hands-on classes in fields such as welding, silversmithing, blacksmithing, jewelry making, small and large metal casting, stained glass soldering, CAD/CAM/CNC, laser cutting, vacuum forming, screenprinting, electronics, and more. Once trained to use our resources, members may rent time on our tools to practice their skills or work on personal projects.

The Columbus Idea Foundry is a 25,000 square foot warehouse located at 1158 Corrugated Way in Columbus, Ohio. The Columbus Idea Foundry is literally filled with tools of all kind, from woodworking, to metalworking, to CNC equipment. All of this equipment is available for members to use for an hourly fee. The Columbus Idea Foundry teaches classes also. In fact most members get started by taking a class first and then using the skills they learned to come back and make things on their own. The Columbus Idea Foundry is one of the few places in Columbus, OH that will teach you how to use the tools and then allow you to use them. They teach classes on Welding, woodworking, glass work, and many others. One of the most popular classes at the Columbus Idea Foundry is lockpicking class, where student learn how to pick locks for fun. The lockpicking class is taught by local members of Lock Sport a group of people who pick locks for fun.
