Butcher Block Cutting Board
This Butcher Block Cutting Board is made from alternating pieces of walnut and maple. It measures 11″x17″ and 1-7/8″ thick.
The raw piece was clamped to the spoilboard of The Columbus Idea Foundry’s Shopbot CNC machine. The channel cut in the board or “juicemoat” is a simple task for the Shopbot CNC Router using a very basic rectangular toolpath and a ball-nose bit. The edges are finished with a 1/4″ round-over bit using a conventional router table setup. It is then finished off with a coat of food-grade mineral oil and is ready for use. The end result is absolutely gorgeous.
